On Jan. 19th, we had our first lecture. First, we talked about what is art. As a class, we made a list of what made art...art. Here's the list:
- Way of seeing things/someone's perspective
- Expression of emotions
- it's creative
- Aesthetics
- Philosophy
- Blend of concepts (Basic and complex)
- Somebody told you it was art
- Unique
At the end of the lecture, Bill showed us a painting(above) and a quilt and told us to write down what we saw.
This is what I saw in the quilt:
- Stitched with different fabrics
- lots of colors
- diamond pattern
- in every square, there is a small red square within
- old
In the painting:
- the pear
- oil painting
- I feel that the artist might of set this up and took a picture of it first to get the lighting and shadows right
- window frame
- plant
- weird table
